Making Miami County a Better Place
The Miami County Community Foundation was established in 2007 with a mission to create a more attractive business climate, improve the quality of life, and cultural and educational development in greater Miami County, Kansas. The Foundation currently consists of a number of Donor Advised Funds/Scholarship Funds of all sizes, dedicated to supporting the community where we work, live and play.
The Foundation assists donors in achieving their philanthropic objectives through the establishment of restricted and unrestricted endowments during their lifetime or through planned giving. Income from these endowments and donations are used to provide grants to greater Miami County nonprofit organizations that have a positive impact on the community.
If you would like to learn more about how you may leave your legacy and help respond to community needs, please contact Christian E. Toman, Trustee of the Miami County Community Foundation by phone at 913-294-9222 or by email at [email protected].

Avelyn SonShine Journey
From Avelyn's mother...
"In May of 2014 after our daughter Avelyn passed away, we wanted to do something impactful and something long-lasting with the memorial funds we had received; we wanted to bring something positive out of the extremely difficult time we were going through. In October 2014, through a friend and the Holy Spirit, we were led to give away children's bibles. Since then each May we have our Annual Let Your Light Shine Family 1 Mile Walk & 5k to continue to raise funds. If you would like to donate to this cause and help with our mission, please mail your check made payable to "Avelyn Sonshine Journey" to the Miami County Community Foundation at the address above or click on the Donate button above and choose "Avelyn SonShine Journey".

SonShine Athletic Academy
After the death of their daughter Avelyn, Josh & Michele Ivans (Spring Hill KS) started a faith-based volleyball clinic to help introduce the community's children to a sport they care about in a secure faith-based environment. Their ultimate goal is to build an athletic facility that can facilitate nurturing children in Christ. If you would like to donate to this cause, please mail your check made payable to “SonShine Athletic Academy” to the Miami County Community Foundation at the address above.
